Georgina Carson is a senior family law lawyer and partner at Carson Chousky Lein LLP. Georgina has degrees from Queen’s University (BAH) and the University of Toronto (LLB). Georgina has practiced exclusively in the area of family law since being called to the Ontario Bar in 1991.
Georgina’s solutions-based approach helps clients resolve complex custody, support, property, and tax issues through cooperation, collaborative negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, and at all levels of court in Ontario.
Georgina is also a member of the Minerva Group of senior family law mediators and arbitrators. With over 30 years of family law experience, Georgina is an effective and evaluative mediator and arbitrator. Georgina assists parties and counsel in reaching constructive, creative and cost-effective resolutions.
Georgina is an appointed Dispute Resolution Officer in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto; former longstanding member of the Barristers’ Advisory Group for the Law Society of Ontario; contributing author to Ontario Family Law Practice; former Chair of the Family Law Executive of the Ontario Bar Association; former panel lawyer for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer; executive editor of the original Law Society of Upper Canada’s Separation Agreement Annotated; and frequent speaker, author, and instructor at legal education programs through The Advocates’ Society, the Law Society of Ontario, Osgoode Professional Development and the Ontario Bar Association.
Samantha Chousky is a senior family law lawyer and partner at Carson Chousky Lein LLP. She graduated from York University in 1993 with a B.A. (Honours Psychology) and from Osgoode Hall Law School with an LLB in 1996. Samantha has practiced exclusively in the area of family law since her call to the Ontario Bar in 1998.
Samantha brings the same thoughtful, creative and practical approach to all of her cases. Samantha is highly empathetic and attentive to the specific circumstances and needs of her clients. She is skilled at guiding her clients through their legal process, and in assisting her clients to achieve solutions through negotiation, mediation, arbitration or litigation.
In her litigation practice, Samantha has been counsel on cases at all levels of court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Samantha has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including child and spousal support, property division (including complex corporate structures, pensions and trusts), and high conflict parenting disputes.
Samantha has been appointed as a Dispute Resolution Office for the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto and Newmarket.
Samantha is certified as a Parenting Co-ordinator.
Serena is a family law lawyer and partner at Carson Chousky Lein LLP together with her mentor, Georgina Carson. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2007 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) followed by a Juris Doctor degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2010.
Since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2011, Serena has practiced exclusively in the area of family law. Serena has extensive experience in family law, including high conflict parenting disputes and complex property and support matters.
Serena’s approach is client-centered and tailored to each unique situation. She engages in co-operative negotiations to craft creative agreements and reach reasonable settlements out of court. When appropriate, Serena engages in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms including mediation and/or arbitration to resolve family law disputes in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. When litigation is necessary, Serena uses her effective advocacy skills appearing at all levels of Court in Ontario.
Serena is compassionate, practical, and hardworking. She devotes her considerable expertise to achieving desirable outcomes. Serena has contributed to family law publications and professional development programs and keeps current with the constantly evolving field of family law.
Serena is a devoted mother of two, an animal lover and avid baseball and basketball fan.
Emma is a confident family law lawyer and valuable member of the Carson Chousky Lein LLP team. Emma is a fearless advocate for clients in mediations, arbitrations and in court. Emma gained experience articling at a boutique full-service firm in Toronto.
Emma has an Honours BA from the University of Toronto and a JD from Western University. Emma was called to the Ontario Bar in 2021.
Aleksandra obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Ottawa after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology at Middlesex University in London, England. She was called to the Ontario Bar in June, 2023.
Prior to joining the Firm as an Articling Student in 2022, Aleksandra gained valuable experience at both a criminal defence and a family law firm in Toronto and Ottawa. During her last year of law school, Aleksandra completed a year-long placement at the family law division of Legal Aid Ontario’s Integrated Legal Services Office in Ottawa.
Aleksandra is a goal-oriented, strategic thinker who utilizes her undergraduate psychology knowledge and experience to assist clients through challenging family law matters. She is particularly interested in alternative dispute resolution.
Aleksandra is an avid traveller with an appreciation for the culinary arts. She loves exploring new cities through their dining scenes.
Denise has been working as a family law clerk for over 30 years and with Georgina for 25 years. Denise is an experienced, organized and vital member of the Carson Chousky Lein LLP team.
Lynne is a Family Law Clerk and has been working for over 30 years in the legal industry.
Lynne formerly graduated from Retter Business College in 1987 and has been working exclusively in the area of family law area exclusively since 1993.
Lynne provides a range of support, including the preparation of Financial Statements, Net Family Property Statements and Disclosure Briefs.
Beverly graduated from Seneca College in 1992 and has been working in the legal industry since then and exclusively as a Family Law Clerk since 2005.
Beverly is experienced and knowledgeable and provides support to Samantha Chousky.
Outside of work, Beverly enjoys cooking, travel, carnivals and fostering children with Peel CAS.
Kristen has worked as a family law clerk since graduating from Seneca College in 2004. Kristen is a skilled and knowledgeable law clerk. Kristen has been working closely with Serena Lein since joining the Firm.
Darlene graduated in 2004 from the Law Clerk program at Durham College. She has experience in the areas of Family Law, Assessment Court, Appeals, Real Estate and Estates.
Throughout her career, Darlene’s main focus has been in the area of Family Law, and has assisted several lawyers with litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes, including Trials and Arbitrations.
Darlene enjoys hunting, fishing and all aspects of the outdoors. She is also a big football fan.
Rebecca Wilson has worked exclusively in the Area of Family Law since 2017, after graduating from Durham College with an advance diploma from their Law Clerk program.
Rebecca has been working primarily in the areas of domestic and matrimonial Family Law matters since graduation, however she has also worked with Children’s Aid Societys as a Legal Assistant and with Indigenous Child Protection matters as a Law Clerk.
Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband and pets, collecting Lego sets, and is an avid reader.
